Water

Overview

DiaLog products have been used in the municipal and industrial water market for over 20 years, providing alarm notification and monitoring of remote and unattended facilities. Until 9/11 most water applications simply provided alarming on low pressure and low tank level, but with today's security concerns, virtually all implementations also provide intrusion, motion and access control monitoring and reporting.

Operations are continually challenged to keep distribution pressure up, CL at appropriate levels, prolong the life of pumps, limit and report access.

Water tanks

  • Monitor tank level either with a level switch, pressure sensor or level transmitter.
  • Alarm when tank level is too low or too high.
  • Alarm when the tank level drops at too fast a rate indicating either a busted main or a fire hydrant has been opened.
  • Provide automatic reporting of tank level.
  • Provide remote access to all monitored conditions via phone or PC.
  • Provide low level lockout and lockin to distribution system based on tank level.
  • Transmit tank level from remote tanks to well control system either via radio transmission or, if there is no line-of-sight, by cellular phone.

Wells

  • Monitor, record and report well pump run times, number of cycles and time when pumps start and stop to determine well recovery time.
  • Monitor and alarm motor starter failures.
  • Record and report current and totalized flow from each well.
  • Provide remote access to all monitored conditions via phone or PC.
  • Provide automatic reporting of run times and cycles.
  • Control and alternate pumps based on tank level from probes, pressure or level transmitters.
  • Alarm on loss of phase for 3-phase motors.
  • Provide interface with existing or future SCADA.

Distribution

  • Monitor, alarm and record distribution line pressure.
  • Monitor and alarm on residual chlorine levels.
  • Control and alternate booster pumps based on distribution line pressure.
  • Monitor and alarm motor start failures.
  • Provide remote access to all monitored conditions via phone or PC.
  • Control hydrostatic tank pressure.
  • Provide interface with existing or future SCADA.

Small Water Plants

  • Complete control of wells, tank level and distribution pressure.
  • Alarming on motor starter failures, low tank level, low distribution pressure, phase fault, excessive cycling, excessive run-time, high CL level and intrusion.
  • Reporting of daily run-times, cycles, total well flow and all monitored conditions via fax or to the Internet.
  • Provide remote access to all monitored conditions via phone or PC.
  • Provide direct interface with existing or future SCADA system

Larger Water Plants

  • Monitor and alarm on all tank levels.
  • Alarm on phase fault, high CL level, motor starter failures, excessive cycling and run-times.
  • Interface with PLC systems to provide alarming on any condition monitored/controlled by the PLC.
  • Alarm on PLC failure
  • Report information to the Internet
